About our Free Company

The Overview

Wayward Acquisition began its new chapter built on ideals and ambition. After the end of the Final Days the free company relocated to Thavnair to establish its home base and become known as a mercantilism company serving a variety of positions from collecting artifacts, bounty hunting, economic growth and trade, research and development - and more. Mercantilism had become an umbrella term for the multifaceted inner workings of the ever expanding organization that has seeds planted throughout Etheirys: namely Uldah, Gridania, Garlemald at present. More prospects are in their future to extend their outreach with the intention of helping any and all who cross their path.As Dawn Trails, Wayward Acquisitions looks West beyond the isles of Vylbrand to explore a nation foreign to all - Tural.Embrace the unknown and let new opportunities shape your future.Remaining chaotically neutral, moves have been made to facilitate trade with lesser known and more lucrative operations with the Underworld to procure rarer conveniences of fortune for those who seek it out. If you know, you know - but don't expect the shadows to be revealed in the light. With optimism and an appetite for adventure, shall we set sail for these new lands?

After celebrating one year of being a free company, we have laid our foundation as a warm and welcoming community that has become a home to many. Our focus as a free company is to continue to strive to be a fulfilling community to be a part of. We have a lot of folks who just simply love hanging out with one another, and we want to promote that.Described as 'Blissfully Unique', we maintain a healthy balance between real life and fantasy by respecting one's personal endeavors while creating continuous opportunities to be a part of in-game events. We have an active discord that displays our calendar of weekly events for PVE and RP alike. We occasionally have off-game events from Jackbox, Movie Nights, and more from time to time. Quite a few of our community members can be found playing other games such as Guild Wars 2, World of Warcraft, Helldivers, and more. Our ideals are to facilitate an environment that promotes creative writing and collaborative storytelling. We want to explore the open world, and intend to run events as well to dive into the world of Final Fantasy. We also want to create a homely space for people to make friends and vibe together, creating lasting memories for days to come.Opportunities of what we can do are simply in the eye of the beholder. You put into it what you get out of it.

Inner Workings

We are primarily active on Discord, so make sure you click the button below.
Choose today to introduce yourself into our community!

Below you can find all the ranks paralleling what has already been set up in game for the free company and the community.

Our Wayfarers are those brand new to the discord specifically. This role is to recognize recent visitors who decide to join and see what we're all about!Friends & Family are self explanatory. Those vetted by members of the free company but aren't directly in the free company will likely receive this rank.FC Allies are affiliates or individuals who work in tandem with the free company. One must submit an application to become an Ally or a Company Member. This role is defined simply as someone who cannot directly join the company, or perhaps doesn't want to, but still wants to be involved with our community - particularly on the roleplay side of things.Wanderers are individuals who have submitted an application and are undergoing their 2-week trial period to see if they are a good fit for the FC. If the application is approved, they are promoted to Traveler.

Travelers describes those who have recently been welcomed into our free company. New members will usually be within this rank for a trial period of 2 weeks. After the two week probation period has passed, the activity of the individual is considered before progressing to our base rank, Merchants.Merchants have graduated from Travelers status. By now, we've got a bit of familiarity. You are considered a full member of the free company.Traders are like the Old Guard. They've been around here for a good minute. Our veteran members are distinguished, and positively impact the free company. This rank is the highest one can be presently within the free company without being an authority figure. It takes a period of 6 months for a Merchant to become a Trader, but one may be moved up sooner based on initiative, ambition, and activity.

Ambassadors are our junior officers within the free company and a unique role all to its own. While they hold no administrative responsibilities, their priority is roleplay driven. Ambassadors hold a position both in character and out of character with a specific responsibility to facilitate roleplay. Each ambassador, in character, manages a region within the world and is the extended voice of Vesper Reshef, Wayward Acquisition's Proprietress. This allows our mercantilism company to explore location-centric roleplay hooks and coordinate with others for multi-regional events. Ambassadors bring their ambitions and own passions to a roleplay group with an open mind and willingness to share ideas and further creative story opportunities and collaborations. If you wish to inquire more about this role, join our Discord. The Council marks your moderators - your authority figures. The Council helps maintain the integrity and standards of the free company alongside the Proprietress. They oversee activity in the discord and help lead and facilitate events within the free company, mediate conflict, and perform basic administrative tasks within the company. Their voice is equal to the Proprietress, and effects the guilds growth and progression. Advisors are a part of the council and provide valuable input behind the scenes.Guild Leader | Proprietress is a rank reserved for the head of operations. They take care of the primary administrative duties of the free company in addition to officer duties.

House Rules

  1. LGBTQIA+ friendly. You matter, and you are loved. Hatred has zero tolerance here.

  2. 21+ FC.Anyone underage will be removed. This is because we allow seedy and borderline criminal themes in our FC and some elements may appear suggestive or mature. We also wish to establish a mature community. || In this FC we do acknowledge that certain NPCs (family members, children etc.) may not meet the 21+ age requirement. NPCs that are minors are allowed as well as playable minors with the catch that they are only established for social or story reasons. They may not attend any company-related missions or be put into harms way.

  3. No OOC Drama/Harassment. Zero tolerance for drama. No racism, sexism, flaming, gaslighting, trolling, hate speech, shit-stirring, and outright disrespect.

  4. No Documentation, No Proof. The administration will no longer be dealing with issues unless there is documentation reinforcing the matter at hand. We will not play "He said, she said". While Rumors & Doxing is forbidden, for the sake of moderation we will be requiring this. We prefer to see all sides to make objective decisions.

  5. Rumors and Doxing. Don't spread gossip or people's private information.

  6. Remain Civil on "Hot Topics". We all have different opinions and views. At the end of the day this is a FFXIV RP Discord & Community. Topics such as religion, politics, and present world events affect everyone in some way, shape, or form. It is OK to vent about these topics, but do so in Venting.

  7. We have a safe word. This safe word may be used by parties to opt-out of a discussion or topic if they wish to step away or do not wish to engage further. This word for now is Poppycock. Please respect the decision if the safe word is used.

  8. Respect is important. Treat people as you wish to be treated.

  9. Consent. Do not do anything the other person does not consent to, be it running content, roleplaying, or simply doing things together. Consent is key.

  10. IC Conflict permitted. OOC is not. Any conflict IC is encouraged, especially for means of development. IC actions have IC consequences. If IC carries into OOC and cannot be resolved, you will be banned and removed from the server and free company.

  11. OOC conflict must be attempted to be resolved peacefully. Our officers and guild master will offer an attempt at mediation if a conflict cannot be resolved privately. If a personal conflict starts to effect the free company openly, it will be addressed with penalties.

  12. Have Fun. Just don't ruin anyone else's. We're all here to have a good time!

Roleplay Guidelines

  1. Real life comes first. If you need to exit a scene or step out no matter the reason, it's okay. Just give your roleplay colleagues a heads up.

  2. IC is IC. OOC is OOC. Do not blend the two. Character emotions and opinions should remain in character.

  3. Newer roleplayers are welcome here. We have a lot of veteran writers that can help get you acquainted.

  4. See something, Say something. If you are a witness to a member actively breaking a rule, please address this as soon as possible with the Council so we can investigate.

  5. Themes regarding sexual assault are off limits. This includes sexual harassment.

  6. We allow Lore Bending here, but not breaking. Please keep an open mind we do stick to the primary means of lore while exploring the unique opportunities creative writing brings us. If you are unsure what falls under lore or not, ask the Council. Please keep in mind that while we do allow lore bending, this means that we also stick to things found in universe. This means we will not allow direct transplantation of other characters, zones, or concepts from outside the FFXIV setting. If it cannot be found in universe or made sense to be found in some shape or form, defer to asking the Council or an Ambassador.

  7. Powerplaying and Godmodding is not allowed. Metagaming should be avoided as much as possible. Powerplaying means taking control of another character's actions without permission. Godmodding means being invincible and unable to be killed or able to be damaged beyond a normal individuals limits. Metagaming means introducing OOC knowledge into IC without permission. We are not omniscient, or omnipotent.

  8. Keep your character's power level in check. No one wants to roleplay with someone all powerful or who has a solution for everything all the time. This being said, there is the OG Warrior of Light. You are not the Warrior of Light. While major figures in the MSQ exist, we would know of them but likely won't have the privilege of first-name basis or direct interactions of famous NPC Characters. We want to clarify that we are a mercantilism free company. This means that anything on the magnitude that would be dealt with by Warrior(s) of Light may not be applicable in our setting. If you have to ask if its too strong or powerful, please defer to an Officer or the Guild Master for final say.

  9. We are chaotic neutral. Not all of our stories may be in accordance to the law. Some of our trades are shady and seedy, and may have themes such as drugs, poisons, firearms and more. We also may host mature themes that may be triggering to some writers. While we have safeties in place, it is up to you to be clear of your writing intentions.

  10. If a scene has suggestive or sensitive themes, please make sure all participating parties are aware, and give them the chance to opt out of a scene before it gets too heavy. Respect boundaries, get consent, and take care of one another.

  11. Actions have consequences. No one gets off scot-free. If you get caught in criminal activity, you will likely be arrested. If you are knocked out in combat, you are knocked out until you recover or are thereby raised per our combat system.

  12. Player versus Player combat is agreed by each participant. Officers will not step in unless there are OOC issues as a result.

  13. Minors while allowed as NPCs or that exist for story [siblings, children of families etc], will not be allowed to attend any leves / events / missions and will not be able to participate in combat of any form until their coming of age IC. - We do not wish for harm to come to our beloved children.

Billiards

How to Play

Pre-Game Checklist

  1. Make sure each player has a pool stick.

  2. Use the triangular mold to place all the balls neatly on one side of the table, centered and a bit up from the bank.

  3. When 'racking', alternate solid and stripes around the edges and place the 8 ball in one of the three middle spots.

Billiards - A Guide for Beginners

This is a roleplay immersive event.
This is just the mechanics in between.

  • Both players roll to decide who goes first. Highest roller breaks.

  • Player 1 breaks the pool set by rolling /random 15 to see if the cue ball hits one of the balls on the table.

  • Player 1 rolls /random 2 to determine if they make that ball in or not. 1 for hit, 2 for miss.

  • If Player 1 makes it in, they look at the number they shot [i.e number 9.] and see if they play as solid or stripes. [If they hit #9 in, they are stripes.]

Solids : 71, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, (8)The '8' is listed to keep the numbers even in competition. So for Solids you have a lead. Whenever you get down to /random 2, you can technically roll on the eight ball since its your last 'solid'Stripes : 7
9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15

  • The board is now divided. Keep track of your score. Each player now has 7 balls to make in the pocket. Of course if you break and make a ball in, just subtract a number from the /random roll you have for your next turn. You will not be rolling for the 8 ball until all of your kind [ even, or odd] has made it into a pocket.

  • You will use /random 7 to roll on your turn for both Player 1 and 2. Then you will /random 2 to determine if the ball hits or misses the pocket.

  • If you miss, your turn is forfeit. If you hit, you subtract 1 from your /random total. [Instead of /random 7, it becomes /random 6 and so on until you pocket your last ball.]

  • What happens when you make all of your solids or stripes? Now its all or nothing.

The Eight Ball

  • This ball will not be rolled for hit or miss until the end of the game.

  • When its time to aim for the 8 ball, you'll roll /random 2. 1 is hit, 2 is miss. If it hits, you win the game. Just be sure to call your pocket!

  • If you miss your shot, your turn is forfeit and you may try again next turn to 'hit' it in, giving your opponent another turn to 'catch up'.

NOTE: This is not 100% true to actual pool. Because this is a virtual setting using RNG, draft 1.0 of this ruleset is liable to change after feedback is presented.
We have not calculated a proper way against RNG to include the 8 ball for 'early ends' to the game.
We chose for the eight ball to be 'all or nothing' so its a race with RNG to see who gets to shoot the 8 ball first and wins.
ALSO "Scratching" can be part of your 'missed' turn. It is not factored into RNG.

Drink Challenge

The Rolls

  • 0-99 - System Error - The machine hummed before a clear sound of powering down is heard and a rather plain looking brew comes out of the nozzle. The drink tastes almost like water despite its supposed high alcohol content

  • 100-199- Heated too Much - The drink passed by the heating element one to many times during the brewing process causing it to come out extremely hot to the touch. Drinking it causes you to feel extremely dehydrated with an unquenchable thirst for 10 minutes.

  • 200-299- Over Mixed - The drink was shaken a /little/ ok alot more then it should have been causing it to come out extremely frothy. Drinking it causes the bubbles to fill your system causing you to feel lighter than air for 10 minutes. (Counter weight provided upon request)

  • 300-399- Bad Measurements - To much of this, too little of that the machine seemed to mix the drink seemingly randomly causing the concoction to come out with a slightly off color. Upon drinking you feel as if time has slowed down around you for 10 minutes.

  • 400-499- A Little Static - As the drink was dispensing a slight bolt of electricity shot into the pour causing small sparks to form on top of the drink. Upon drinking your fingertips begin to shoot out low voltage static every few seconds for 10 minutes.

  • 500-599- Under Churned - The drink seemed to not be mixed at all the alcohol clearly seem in separate layers as the drink gets poured out. Upon drinking you first are hit with sour flavor potent enough to cause your lips to pucker, soon after this is soothed out with a sweetness light enough to make you feel relaxed. Each part of the effect lasts 5 minutes.

  • 600-699- Not Heated Through - The drink seemed to not pass by the heating element at all, basically coming out a few degrees shy of freezing. The glass slightly chills as the drink is poured into it. Upon drinking your tongue feels frozen and your mouth slightly numb causing your words to slur slightly any time you attempt to speak for 10 minutes.

  • 700-799- Over Concentrated - The machine seems to have forgotten the mixers on this pour as the drink comes out tasting almost of pure alcohol. Upon Drinking you feel the room begin to spin and every looks to be upside down as you struggle to stay in your seat, effect lasts for 10 minutes.

  • 800-899- Passed too Close to Exhaust - During the brewing process it seems the drink somehow managed to get brought a little bit too close to where the machine exhausts from causing it to have a slightly off putting odor. Upon drinking your breath becomes almost unbearably foul and it seems like nothing will make it any better besides perhaps waiting 10 minutes for it to pass.

  • 900-1000- Passed Over Motherboard - The drink went a little bit closer to the machines processing board then it should and a few gold flakes fell into the liquor as it was being circulated upon receiving the drink you notice enough gold flakes that to the right buyer would be worth 100k after picking them out the drink tastes perfect and as advertised is one of the best things you have ever tasted.

Mini-Games Quicklist

Vanilla
Costume Contest

  • This is a 100% vanilla contest so all players can participate on an even playing field.

  • MARE and GLAMOURER will not work. Nor will Customize, Heels, or any other modded plugin to affect your characters appearance.

  • You will have to actually use a glamour prism / glamour plate for your glamour in game.

  • There will be 3 judges for the event.

Deathroll Tournament

  • Both participants will /random for who will be rolling first. (Show us those dice! and give a bow.)

  • Player with the highest dice will go first officially with /random.

  • 2nd Player will /random the dice number that Player 1 rolled

  • This continues until a Player rolls a [1], in which case the player that rolled 1 will lose the match.

Bobbing for Apples

  • /d20 is used for this game.

  • If you roll a Prime Number, then you manage to hook an apple!

  • Prime Numbers are: 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19

  • People may keep rolling until they get an apple, but they will get more and more splashed with water each try.

Vampire Dice

  • For this game, each player rolls their dice.

  • If a player rolls a [2], they have been bitten by the vampire and are out of the game.

  • If they rolled anything NOT a [2], they are safe.

  • All players who are still alive roll again.

  • Same rules apply every round. The last player alive is the winner.

  • If all players go out on the same round, then the vampire wins the game!
